Welcome to Serravalle Pistoiese

The town of Serravalle lies on the sloping countryside at the foot of Montalbano. Because of its strategic position, the towns of Pistoia, Lucca and Florence fought for a long time for Serravalle dominion. Serravalle has then lost this strategic role and has recently become a peacefull and industrious village. On the hills the cultivation of olives and vines is still well attested, while on the plane many plants nurseries have become common.
	The Craft sector is still a basic activity and it combines the modern tecnologies with the originality of ancient traditions. A most important tradition is the art of embroidery, a sector that produces articles of great quality realized with "Casale stitch" and well known all around the world.

Recently, modern Hotels have been opened along the main roads and Farmhouses, wisely restored and furnished with every conforts have been opened on the hills. A visit in Serravalle offers the possibility to see important monuments, churches, works of art, but Serravalle is also a good point to reach and visit other important turistic and cultural towns such as Pistoia, Lucca, Pisa, Firenze and Vinci; to see the naturalistic Reserv of Padule di Fucecchio and the Pistoian Mountains or the enchanting Tuscan countryside where grow the wine Chianti and the olive oil d.o.p.
